Today is Giving Tuesday, created in 2012 to focus on giving, not getting—a reminder to give back after Black Friday and Cyber Monday. What started small now spans over 80 countries, with hundreds of millions donated annually in the U.S. alone.

It’s about more than money. People worldwide volunteer, support causes, and check on neighbors. It’s a day about shared humanity and the joy of giving.
For nonprofits, it’s often the year’s biggest fundraising event, reminding us that acts of kindness represent something bigger.
I’m also the founder of InvestInMentalHealth.org, dedicated to building mental health-aware communities. Giving Tuesday is perfect for sharing our gratitude for recently receiving a grant to certify Mental Health First Aiders in my local community. After years exploring how to make an impact, a local event inspired me to ‘start right here.’
If you’re donating today, consider supporting efforts that break stigma and teach everyone to save a mental life the way CPR saves a physical one.
How will you spend Giving Tuesday?
With gratitude,
Loretta
