In February of 2016, Loretta accepted a seat on the Leadership Council of Rise Up, a global non-profit founded in 2009, dedicated to enabling girls, youth, and women to transform their own lives, communities, and countries. Rise Up country leaders have advocated for over 100 laws and policies impacting 115 million girls, youth and women across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the United States. The organization’s investment model is similar to that of an “angel investor” — Rise Up looks to support visionary leaders, local organizations, and innovative solutions that achieve large scale change through leadership development, advocacy, grantmaking, and storytelling. As part of her commitment to Rise Up, Loretta currently coaches two of Rise Up’s Youth Champion Leaders in Mississippi, both of whom are working to advocate and impact girls’ and youth reproductive education, rights and policies in their state and local communities.
